Celtics’ Pritchard Makes History in Win Over Wizards
Celtics Cruise Past Wizards Behind Pritchard’s Historic Night
Washington, D.C. – The Boston Celtics dominated the Washington Wizards 112-98 on Friday night, fueled by a historic performance from guard Payton Pritchard. Pritchard exploded for a career-high 32 points, becoming the first Celtics player to score 30 or more points off the bench as Eddie House in 2008.
Pritchard’s hot hand was on display from the opening tip, as he drained five three-pointers in the first half alone. His energy and scoring punch ignited the Celtics’ offense, which moved the ball crisply and found open shots throughout the game.
“Payton was phenomenal tonight,” said Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. “He brought a spark off the bench and really got us going. His shooting was unbelievable, but he also made some great plays for his teammates.”
While Pritchard stole the show, the Celtics received contributions from across the roster. Jayson Tatum added 22 points and 8 rebounds, while Jaylen brown chipped in with 17 points. The Celtics’ balanced attack proved too much for the Wizards to handle.
The wizards struggled to find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 42% from the field. Bradley Beal led Washington with 25 points, but he received little support from his teammates.
With the win,the Celtics improved to 20-8 on the season and remain atop the Eastern Conference standings. The Wizards fell to 12-16.The Celtics will look to continue their winning ways when they face the Philadelphia 76ers on sunday.
