DETROIT — Four-time Pro-Bowl center Frank Ragnow is coming out of retirement and rejoining teh Detroit Lions.
Ragnow decided to unretire as he “loves the game,” according to a source who spoke with ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Wednesday,November 27,2024,was the deadline for Ragnow to be reinstated and remain eligible to play during the 2024-2025 NFL season,sources told ESPN. Players placed on the reserve/retired list must be reinstated by this date to participate in the current season.
Why Did Frank Ragnow Retire?
Ragnow initially announced his retirement on May 10, 2024, citing concerns about the long-term effects of repeated head injuries. He shared his decision in a statement released by the Lions, expressing a desire to prioritize his health and well-being.At the time of his retirement, Ragnow was 27 years old.
His decision came after a career marked by consistent high-level performance, despite multiple concussions. He played in 84 games for the Lions as being drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
What Does Ragnow’s Return Mean for the Lions?
