MONTREAL (AP) — The CF Montreal Academy will send its U16 and U18 squads to Bradenton, Fla., from April 12-20 to participate in the Generation Adidas Cup (GA Cup). The tournament will be held at the IMG Academy.
The GA Cup, an international competition established in 2007, is a key event in the MLS Next season.It features MLS academies and several international teams in the U16 and U18 age groups. This year’s 16th edition will host 80 teams from 14 nations.
Tournament Format
Both Montreal teams are scheduled to play seven matches over nine days. Following the initial three group stage games (April 12-14), the top team from each group, along with the six best second-place finishers, will advance to the knockout stage. teams not qualifying for the knockout stage will participate in a Showcase tournament.

The U16 team has been drawn into Group C, while the U18 team will compete in Group I. Each team will face two MLS academies and one international academy during group play.
