According to statements published by The Associated Press, the Council of Fashion Designers of America described Kolb as a dedicated leader and tireless champion of American fashion, noting that the association respected his decision to step down. Before announcing his resignation, Kolb had taken a leave of absence pending an investigation and issued an apology for his actions. Video footage from the event on Sunday captured the executive physically restraining two employees of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals during the disruption.

Details of the Runway Show Altercation

The incident unfolded when demonstrators attempted to interrupt the Cos runway presentation to protest the use of wool and animal skins in clothing. According to verified reports, protester Andrija Barak shouted slogans about wool before being restrained. Video footage showed Kolb covering her mouth with his hands, using both arms, and placing a leg over her body to keep her down while the show continued. In the same altercation, Kolb also pushed another demonstrator, Mason Melito, and placed his hands over his mouth. Moira Colley, senior director of media relations for PETA in New York, stated that the organization initially planned to file a police report against Kolb. However, the group changed course after consulting attorneys and visiting police, opting instead to seek direct dialogue with fashion leadership.

PETA Response and Future Industry Talks

Following the resignation announcement on Friday, PETA released a statement indicating that the organization still plans to meet with Kolb. Moira Colley and other representatives hope the discussions will encourage industry figures to take meaningful steps toward ending the use of animal skins and wool.
