Chagas Disease: Vaccine Development Faces Funding Hurdles
El equipo de Nunca es tarde conversó con la médica, licenciada en biotecnología e investigadora del CONICET, quien habló sobre el desarrollo de una vacuna contra esa enfermedad.
“Es una vacuna que hasta el momento ha dado buenos resultados pero sólo ha sido probada en animales no en humanos”.
Las estadísticas indican que casi 2 millones de personas hoy se encuentran cursando esta enfermedad y casi 75 millones de personas podrían contagiarse.
La médica aseguró que por el momento la vacuna, que es de tipo nasal, no tiene fecha de salida al mercado porque se deben hacer muchas pruebas.
“Esto podría llevar años porque aún no hay financiamiento y los laboratorios no están interesadas en desarrollar esta vacuna porque estaría destinada a poblaciones no demandantes”.

“En los laboratorios se pueden modificar virus, no crear, y si bien siempre hubo sospechas de que el COVID surgió de un laboratorio de China, no he leído ningún informe serio que demuestre esa teoría”.
