WOLSUM, Massachusetts – Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun recently visited Boston Dynamics headquarters to discuss expanded collaboration in robotics and mobility innovation. The visit signals Hyundai’s intent to integrate Boston Dynamics robots into its U.S. manufacturing operations.

Robots to Enhance U.S. Production
Hyundai Motor Group is planning a meaningful investment in robotics, with intentions to purchase thousands of robots, including the Boston Dynamics’ humanoid robot, Atlas. These robots are slated for deployment in key U.S. production facilities.
According to a Boston Dynamics proclamation made April 4, Chairman Chung, accompanied by Vice Chairman Jang Jae-hoon, attended a town hall meeting on March 27 with approximately 800 Boston Dynamics employees.
Strategic Investment in Robotics
Hyundai Motor Group has previously announced a $20 billion investment in the United states over the next four years. A significant portion, $6 billion, is earmarked for strategic collaborations, including robotics.
Jang Jae-hoon emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, “Boston Dynamics and Robotics AI are the core of achieving group goals. We will quickly secure the robot industry leadership through cooperation.”
Current and Future Robot Deployment
Currently,Hyundai Motor Group utilizes Boston Dynamics’ Spot,a four-legged robot,for facility inspections at major sites. The Atlas humanoid robot is planned for introduction at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia.
