National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik and former Hungarian President Katarin Novak Discuss Strategic Partnership and Childbirth Support Policies
National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik met with former Hungarian President Katarin Novak in the Speaker’s Office on the morning of the 11th (Wednesday) to discuss the strategic partnership between Korea and Hungary.
Chairman Woo highlighted the close cooperative relationship between the two countries, which was established when Hungary became the first country in the former Eastern Bloc to establish diplomatic relations with Korea. He also emphasized the importance of supporting Korean companies operating in Hungary, as well as promoting exchanges between young people from both countries.
Chairman Woo expressed his interest in introducing Hungary’s successful childbirth support policies to address Korea’s low birth rate and population decline problems. He noted that Hungary’s model, which has been implemented over the past 10 years, could be of great help in overcoming the low birth rate crisis.

Former Hungarian President Novak agreed on the importance of the relationship between the two countries and expressed his willingness to share experiences and solutions to address the problem of population decline. He also invited Chairman Woo to visit Hungary and experience its family-friendly atmosphere and environment.
The meeting was attended by various officials from both countries, including Ambassador Istvan Serderhei of Hungary to Korea, President Noh Jae-heon of the Korea-Hungary Friendship Association, and Health and Welfare Committee Chairperson Park Ju-min.
