updated May 27, 2024
The stars of “Challengers”—Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist—are already lining up their next projects after the film’s success. Despite what Zendaya called a “confusing” ending, the actors’ future plans are becoming clear.
Zendaya’s star power is undeniable. “Challengers” has become director Luca Guadagnino’s highest-grossing opening film, surpassing even “Call Me By Your Name.” Zendaya, a two-time Emmy winner, has also played supporting roles in the “Spider-Man” franchise and “Dune: Part Two.” Director Denis Villeneuve has indicated Zendaya will have a more notable role in the upcoming third “Dune” installment.
Josh O’Connor is set to continue his collaboration with Guadagnino in an adaptation of the novel “Separate Rooms.” O’Connor will portray leo, an Italian writer grieving the death of his boyfriend. Léa Seydoux will co-star in this male-male-female love triangle. Francesca Manieri, who worked with Guadagnino on “We Are Who We Are,” is writing the screenplay.
O’Connor also recently appeared in “La Chimera,” set in Italy, and has a supporting role in the WWII biopic “lee” alongside Kate Winslet. He is currently filming “History of Sound,” a queer drama set during WWI, co-starring Paul Mescal. Additionally, O’Connor will lead Karim Aïnouz’s “Rosebushpruning,” with Kristen Stewart and Elle Fanning.
Mike Faist, known for his roles in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” and a “Brokeback Mountain” stage adaptation, will appear in “The Bikeriders.”

What’s next
With “Challengers” making waves, audiences eagerly anticipate the next moves from Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist as they continue to shape the landscape of contemporary cinema.
