A History of Innovation and Care

Champ, a children’s cold medicine, has been a consistent favorite since its release in 1993. Over the years, Dong-A Pharmaceutical has continued to innovate and expand the Champ lineup, solidifying its position as a household medicine.

The Birth of Champ

Champ was first introduced as a cough and cold medicine in 1993. In 2012, Dong-A Pharmaceutical launched the first pouch-type children’s fever reducer in Korea, making it easier for parents to administer medication to their children. The current 5mL stick pouch type was introduced in 2016, designed with the single dose of the main consumption age group in mind.

Expanding the Champ Lineup

Dong-A Pharmaceutical has since launched several new products under the Champ brand, including:

Champ Ibufen (2016): containing ibuprofen
Champ Nose (2018): for nasal cold
Champ Cop (2019): for sore throat
Champ Cold (2023): for general cold
* Champ Alleron (2024): for allergic rhinitis and hives

Champ Syrup and Champ Ibufen: Antipyretic Analgesics

Champ syrup and Champ Ibufen are antipyretic analgesics, designed to help reduce fever and alleviate pain in children. Champ syrup contains acetaminophen as its main ingredient and can be taken by children from 4 months of age. Champ Ibufen, on the other hand, contains ibuprofen and can be taken by children from 12 months of age.

A Medicine that Puts Children First

Champ was created with the heart of a mother who wants the best for her child. The medicine is designed to be easy to take, minimizing the amount of medicine that is thrown away compared to existing bottled products. The snap case design also makes it easy for parents to carry the medicine around when going out.

Awards and Recognition

Champ has won the grand prize in the children’s cold medicine category of the ‘Korea Pharm Award Good Brand’. This award is a testament to the quality and effectiveness of the Champ brand.

Sales and Marketing

Champ sales have consistently grown over the years, with sales of 13.4 billion won in 2022. Dong-A Pharmaceutical plans to strengthen its brand marketing in line with the expansion of the Champ lineup. The company has released a new commercial depicting the ‘unexpected fever moment’ that mothers can relate to, and is continuing its marketing efforts through online channels and apps.
