SHIMLA: A shadow hangs over the Soren family as they grapple with the sudden and unexplained death of 19-year-old Veer Soren, grandson of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren. Veer died Tuesday in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, under circumstances authorities are currently investigating.

According to police reports, Veer arrived in Manali with friends on February 22nd and was staying at a homestay in the Simsa area. On February 23rd, the group visited Solang Valley and Sethan villages along the Hamta Pass route, returning to their accommodation in the evening. The following day, February 24th, Veer remained at the homestay while his companions went out.

Upon their return, Veer confided in his friends that he was experiencing a severe headache, a police officer stated. After being given medication, he went to sleep. Tragedy struck around 2:30 pm when friends heard a sound indicating Veer had fallen from his bed. They discovered him unconscious, with foam forming around his mouth.

Immediate efforts were made to save Veer’s life. He was rushed to a government hospital in Manali where doctors administered CPR, but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the hospital following examination.

The Manali DSP has indicated that the precise cause of death remains unknown, pending the results of a postmortem examination. However, a senior police officer suggested that high altitude sickness could be a contributing factor. The family has since arrived in Manali, and the postmortem was still pending as of Wednesday, February 25th.

The circumstances surrounding Veer Soren’s death have prompted an investigation, and authorities are working to determine the events leading up to this tragic loss. The incident underscores the potential dangers of traveling to high-altitude regions and the importance of being aware of the risks associated with altitude sickness.

The Soren family, deeply affected by this loss, is awaiting the findings of the postmortem to gain clarity and closure. The untimely death of the young man has sent shockwaves through political circles in Jharkhand, where his grandfather remains a prominent figure.

As the investigation continues, authorities are meticulously gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to piece together a comprehensive understanding of the events that transpired in Manali. The hope is that the postmortem report will provide definitive answers and shed light on the cause of Veer Soren’s death.
