European Champions League Kicks Off in New Format

After six years of planning, the European Champions League football competition is set to begin on Tuesday with a new format.

New Format and Changes

The new edition of the Champions League will feature 36 teams, up from 32, with each team playing eight matches (four home and four away).

The group stage has been scrapped, and a new league format will be introduced, with the top eight teams advancing directly to the Round of 16.

Teams that finish ninth to 24th will enter a qualifying round for the Round of 16, with the winning teams advancing to the Round of 16.

Key Matches and Teams

Real Madrid will begin their title defense campaign against Stuttgart, Germany, on Tuesday.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides in the Champions League, and Real Madrid will be hoping to get off to a good start.

Real Madrid has a strong record against German teams, having lost just one of their last 21 matches.

Stuttgart, however, will not be an easy opponent, having finished second in the German league last season.

In another key match, Milan will face Liverpool at the San Siro Stadium.

Both teams will be playing under new coaches, with Liverpool led by Arne Slott and Milan coached by Paolo Fonseca.

Liverpool has a strong record against Italian clubs in the Champions League, but will be looking to improve their image after a recent defeat.

Bayern Munich will host Dinamo Zagreb at the Allianz Arena, with the German giants looking to make a strong start to the season.

Other Matches

Other matches on Tuesday include Juventus vs. PSV Eindhoven, Young Boys vs. Aston Villa, and Sporting Lisbon vs. Lille.
