Michael Chandler has revealed the personal reason behind his proposed date for a showdown with Conor McGregor.The highly anticipated UFC fight, years in the making, could perhaps land on Jan. 24, next year, a date critically important to Chandler.
chandler, a former Bellator champion, has been pursuing a fight with McGregor for an extended period. A previous clash in Las Vegas was scrapped last summer due to McGregor’s injury.
Despite a recent loss to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 last month and a prior defeat against Charles Oliveira in November, Chandler remains optimistic about facing McGregor.He recently teased a new fight date,generating excitement among fans eager to witness the battle between these two high-profile fighters.
chandler explained that the Jan. 24 date coincides with his anniversary with his wife, Brie. He also shares the date with a close friend.
“What’s really funny is I was sitting down with a buddy and we have the same exact anniversary,” Chandler told MMAJunkie’s Mike Bohn. “January 24 is my wife and my anniversary and it just so happens to be a Saturday, so it seems like ’let’s throw that out there’ and speak it into existence.”

If me and Conor are going to fight… it’s going to happen and I don’t need to force it.”
