The Government has announced changes to social welfare payment dates during the Christmas period. These payments are part of a €2.2 billion cost-of-living package included in Budget 2025.
Here are the key payment details:

Payment Schedule:
- Payments scheduled for December 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 will proceed as usual.
- Payments due on December 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 will be processed during the week starting December 16.
- Payments due on January 1 will instead be issued on December 31.

Jobseeker Payments:
- Claimants with advance dockets will receive two payments on December 20 for the signing weeks ending December 17 and December 24 (Jobseeker’s Allowance) or December 18 and December 25 (Jobseeker’s Benefit).

Payment Resumption:
- Normal payment arrangements will resume on January 7, 2025.

Office Closures:
- All Department of Social Protection offices will be closed on Christmas Day, St. Stephen’s Day, and New Year’s Day.
