A series of family-friendly events will mark the celebration of Chanukah in Naperville and Aurora this December.
Menorah Lightings and Community Parades
The festivities begin with a giant menorah lighting at 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Webster Street in downtown Naperville, near the Nichols library. Attendees can enjoy traditional Chanukah treats like sufganiyot (doughnuts), gelt, and latkes, accompanied by festive music.
Prior to the lighting, a menorah car parade will commence at 5 p.m. from the Abrams Center for Jewish Life, located at 651 Amersale Drive in Naperville. Participants can adorn thier vehicles with special menorahs provided by the organizers and drive together to the downtown lighting ceremony.
Additional lighting and Family Activities
A second grand menorah lighting is scheduled for Thursday, December 18, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Center Park, within the Fox Valley Mall at 195 Fox Valley Center Drive in Aurora. This free event will also feature chanukah crafts, live entertainment for children, and doughnuts.
Chanukah Festival with Entertainment and Dining
On Sunday,December 21,at 4 p.m., the abrams Center for Jewish Life will host a Chanukah Festival. The event will include a hypnosis and magic show, a kosher Chinese dinner, and traditional latkes and donuts.
