The Late Ehab Galal: A Tribute to an Egyptian Football Coach
A Career Marked by Perseverance and Passion
The measure of success in football is not always about the victories and titles achieved, but about the impact one leaves on the sport. Ehab Galal, a renowned Egyptian coach, embodied this spirit throughout his illustrious career, which spanned over three decades.
Galal’s journey in football began as a player, where he donned the jerseys of various clubs in Egypt’s Suez Canal Governorate, including Al-Ismaili, Al-Masri Club in Port Said, and Al-Qanat. He retired from football in 2004, but his love for the sport only grew stronger.
After hanging up his boots, Galal transitioned into coaching, starting with obscure clubs in the lower divisions. His hard work and dedication eventually earned him a spot as the technical director of the Egyptian national team, a position he held with great pride.
Galal’s coaching career was marked by several notable stints, including his time at Al-Maqassa, where he led the team to second place in the Egyptian league in 2017 and qualified them for the African Champions League. He also coached Zamalek, Al-Ahly Tripoli, and Al-Masri Al-Port Saidi, among others.

In 2021, Galal embarked on a new adventure as the technical director of the Pyramid team, one of the top clubs in Egyptian football. Although his tenure was short-lived, he left an indelible mark on the team.
Galal’s final coaching stint was with Al-Ismaili, a team he had previously played for and coached. He successfully guided the team to safety from relegation and led them to the semi-finals of the Egyptian Cup.
Throughout his career, Galal was known for his passion, perseverance, and dedication to the sport. He may not have won numerous titles, but he earned the respect and admiration of his peers and fans alike.
Galal’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations of football coaches and players. His commitment to the sport and his country will never be forgotten.
