According to the statement, Israeli police announced on Sunday that a driver rammed his truck into a crowd of commuters at a bus station in central Israel, killing one person and injuring at least thirty others, before being “neutralized”.

Israeli media confirmed that one person died of his injuries when a truck collided with a bus station near the Gillot junction on Sunday morning, noting that six of the injured were in serious condition and five were in moderate condition, while the injured were critical. 20 of them were described as minors.

Police explained that the accident occurred after a bus stopped to drop off passengers and the driver rammed them with his truck.

Police said the raid took place near the Gillot military base, which also houses the Mossad headquarters.

Earlier, the Magen David Adom Ambulance Service said at least 16 injured people had been transferred to a nearby hospital, while the injured were receiving treatment on site. Police also indicated that “civilians shot and injured the truck driver” after the accident.

Police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident, which occurred at 10:08 a.m. Israel time. Television stations broadcast scenes of police cordoning off the area and administering first aid to the injured as a helicopter flew overhead.

The event comes as Israel marks the first anniversary of the Hamas offensive on October 7 according to the Hebrew calendar, which ignited the war in Gaza and Lebanon.

Israeli media reported that the perpetrator of the operation was from an Arab city and held Israeli citizenship, although the Israeli army has not yet issued any confirmation.

Instead, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gavir said from the scene of the operation that he wanted to revoke Israeli citizenship from the family of the attacker north of Tel Aviv, promising to deport the families of Palestinian terrorists.

He expressed his hope that the Likud and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would support draft legislation that would allow the deportation of the families of terrorists.

Hamas commented on the raid near Tel Aviv, saying it was “a natural response to the crimes of the Zionist occupation against our Palestinian people.”

He blessed the “heroic” movement and called for “more skirmishes and clashes with the occupying soldiers and settlers and for the voice of our people and their right to freedom”.

In this context, the Islamic Jihad movement blessed the targeting of soldiers and officers of the Israeli military intelligence unit (8200), describing it as heroic and adding that it was a natural response to the massacres perpetrated by Israel in the north. Gaza Strip.

In a separate incident, the Israeli army said its troops killed a man accused of carrying out a stabbing attack near Jerusalem, describing the incident as a “terrorist attack” against the force.
