Charlamagne tha God Calls Out Internet Division and Its Impact on Youth
Charlamagne tha God, a well-known podcaster and co-host of The Breakfast Club, criticized the internet for causing division among Americans. He spoke during a Project Liberty conference and moderated a panel called “At a Digital Crossroads: Bipartisan Tech Solutions to Unite a Nation.”
He stated, “This is a divided country. We’re polarized, and it’s getting in the way of really talking to one another. But you know what else is getting in the way? The internet.” Charlamagne highlighted how the internet impacts communication and personal connections. He pointed out that internet platforms often manipulate what people see and do not compensate users for their data.
He expressed concern about the effects of the internet on children. “The biggest issue for me with the internet is what it’s doing to the kids,” he said. He believes children are not developing important skills and are overwhelmed by constant information and interactions.
Charlamagne noted that many young people are drawn to social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. He warned about the risks they face, including privacy issues and online scams. While talking with Representatives Nancy Mace and Ro Khanna, he acknowledged that Americans value their freedoms but urged caution regarding the internet’s impact. “I don’t even know if we realize the harm the internet is really doing to us,” he cautioned.
