BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) — Christian Reeves delivered a dominant performance with 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead the College of Charleston to a 62-57 victory over Campbell University on Sunday.
Reeves also contributed three blocked shots for the Cougars, who improved to 17-10 overall and 10-4 in the Coastal Athletic Association. Chol Machot added 17 points, six rebounds, and an impressive six blocked shots of his own.
Jeremiah Johnson was the leading scorer for the Fighting Camels with 16 points. DJ Smith added 11 points and four steals, while Dovydas Butka chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds. Campbell fell to 12-14 on the season, with a 6-7 record in conference play.
Reeves was a key factor in establishing Charleston’s lead, scoring 12 points in the first half as the Cougars built a 36-28 advantage at halftime. The game remained competitive in the closing minutes, with Colby Duggan and Jlynn Counter each converting two free throws in the final 26 seconds to secure the win for Charleston.
Both teams are scheduled to return to action on Thursday. The College of Charleston will travel to N.C. A&T, while Campbell will host William & Mary.
