The 2026 Charley Pride Celebration of Inclusion proved that country music’s future is already here—and it looks nothing like its past. Held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as part of ACM Awards Week, the third annual “I’m Just Me” event celebrated the legacy of Charley Pride while spotlighting the diverse voices reshaping the genre. The gathering, hosted by Amazon MGM Studios in partnership with Amazon Music and the Academy of Country Music, served as both a tribute and a declaration: country music is no longer limited by race, gender, or tradition.

From the moment attendees stepped into the room, the event’s inclusive spirit was palpable. Floral designer Hekmet Ahmed of Heks Code transformed the space into a “country bayou,” blending Southern charm with vibrant greenery. The event’s distinguished honorees reflected its mission: The Compton Cowboys, a Los Angeles-based equestrian collective; James Marsh, national account director at Warner Music Nashville; and MŌRIAH, who led the roster. The Latina artist, whose career bridges Nashville, Los Angeles, and Mexican roots, articulated the event’s core philosophy during her remarks.

“My home is in Nashville, my roots are in LA, and my blood is Mexican. When you have that convergence of all of those cultures, country music is the perfect one because [country music] is all about three chords and the truth.”

— MŌRIAH

The celebration honored additional figures whose work continues Pride’s legacy: Joseph Hudak of Rolling Stone, Beverly Keel (music journalist and dean of Middle Tennessee State University’s College of Media and Entertainment), and Stephanie Davenport (vice president of A&R at Warner Music Nashville). Country Heat Weekly co-hosts Amber Anderson and Kelly Sutton also delivered remarks, previewing the trailer for Charley Pride: I’m Just Me, the PBS American Masters documentary (premiering in 2019) now streaming on Prime Video.

The event’s impact extended beyond the stage. Attendees received brown suede gift bags featuring products from seven Black-owned brands—a tangible nod to Pride’s career, which shattered barriers as the first Black artist to top the country charts and the first to win CMA’s Male Vocalist of the Year in consecutive years. His influence persists through initiatives like the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation’s Charley Pride Fellowship Program, ensuring his legacy extends beyond music.

Leshelle Sargent, publicity principal at Amazon MGM Studios, framed the celebration’s evolution: “What started as an idea has become something much bigger: a cultural moment, a community, and a movement.” Founded in May 2022, the event now stands as a cornerstone of ACM Awards Week, proving that country music’s next chapter is being written by artists who refuse to be boxed in.

The 61st Academy of Country Music Awards, hosted by Shania Twain and streaming live on Prime Video from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday, May 17, at 8 p.m. ET, will further spotlight this inclusive renaissance. As the event’s theme underscored, country music’s future belongs to those who, like Pride, simply walk into the room—and stay.
