Charlie Forde uses adult film earnings to fund animal rescue work

In a personal column published by HuffPost, adult film performer and former emergency veterinarian Charlie Forde argues that public perceptions of respectability depend entirely on who is watching and what they have already decided. Forde, who divides her time between adult entertainment and animal welfare fundraising, writes that her work in the adult industry provides the flexible income necessary to fund her volunteer veterinary series for rescued animals around the world.

Balancing Two Careers Online

Forde maintains two distinct online personas using the same face. One profile presents her as Dr. Charlie Forde, a veterinarian with a background in emergency medicine raising money for farm animal sanctuaries, while the other is her identity as an adult film performer. She writes in the HuffPost essay that public reactions to her two professions vary drastically, noting that people readily trust her with animal care but react with hostility upon learning about her adult work.

When I tell someone I’m an adult performer, the reaction can be very different. When I was on a dating show for a vertical video app and came out about my job, the man I was with jumped off the bed and backed away to the farthest wall.

Forde argues that the underlying skills required in both professions share significant overlap, including consent, boundaries, professionalism, and real care for others. She notes that her earnings from adult entertainment directly support her broader goal of volunteering veterinary skills for animal organizations.

Funding Animal Welfare Through Adult Entertainment

Forde launched her World Vet Volunteer Series to combine her veterinary background with animal rescue efforts. The initiative involves spending a month working with an animal organization to provide volunteer skills, document the process, and raise public awareness and funds. Her current fundraising target is $15,000 to cover feed for The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary in Aldergrove, British Columbia, a registered charity providing lifelong care for rescued farm animals since 2012.

Forde writes that her adult film fans are among her most generous supporters for these animal welfare initiatives. She highlights a recent instance where she received an anonymous donation of more than $700 on her fundraiser while sitting in her backyard. Whether donors come from her adult content audience or her animal welfare work, Forde notes that the financial contributions directly purchase hay and feed for rescued animals.

Upcoming Veterinary Volunteer Projects

Forde’s travel schedule for her volunteer series includes several international locations over the coming months. On October 21 and 22, she is scheduled to volunteer and film at The Happy Herd sanctuary in Canada. In November, she plans to travel to Ukraine to volunteer as a front-line trauma veterinarian, utilizing her prior emergency training.

Further itinerary plans outlined in the essay include snow leopard conservation work in India, turtle rescue efforts in Costa Rica, and fundraising to provide a service dog for an individual in need.
