Charquicán Festival Returns with Festive Flair!
Thousands of people took part this weekend in a new edition of the traditional Charquicán Festival. In this 2024 version, Medialuna of Chacayes, commune of Machalí, was once again the location of an event that, year after year, manages to charm thousands of people, where the celebration of one of our main gastronomic jewels seems like a great excuse to meet the family.
With lots of Charquicán, horse riding, educational farms, typical foods, craft beer and live music, we enjoyed Saturday and Sunday an activity that proudly displays our heritage and brings the town together. Mayor Juan Carlos Abud together with the governor of the O’Higgins Region, Pablo Silva and the president of the Gastronomic and Cultural Group of Chacayes, Tatiana Castro Silva, led the ribbon cutting which this year was a special tribute to María Angélica Osorio, better known as Mrs “Chepita”, the person responsible for this ancient recipe that continues to delight all diners.
The live music was provided by Pachuco and the Cubanacán and Banda Ilussión, we also enjoyed presentations by folk groups and a great performance by the students of Ysgol Chacayes.
Mayor Juan Carlos Abud gave a positive assessment of holding a festival that saves the best of what we do from other areas coming together in a completely family activity,” the community authority noted.
