The 45th Chess Olympiad Team Competition concluded its eighth round in Budapest, Hungary, with the Chinese men’s team and the Chinese women’s team securing victories and rising to fourth and seventh place respectively.
Men’s Team Narrowly Wins Against Romania
After losing to the Indian team in the previous round, the Chinese men’s team faced the Romanian team in this round. Ding Liren continued to rest, while Wei Yi, Bu Xiangzhi, and Wang Yue drew with their opponents. Yu Yangyi scored a crucial point, securing a 2.5:1.5 win for the Chinese team.
Other Notable Matches in the Men’s Competition
The Indian team defeated the Iranian team 3.5:0.5, maintaining their winning streak. The Hungarian team defeated the Armenian team 2.5:1.5, while the Uzbekistan team and the United States team also secured wins against the Serbian team and the French team with the same score of 2.5:1.5.
