Chennai Showdown: India Gears Up for Thrilling Victory Against Bangladesh
India Sets Sights on Victory Against Bangladesh in Chennai Test
Chennai: In the Chennai Cricket Test against Bangladesh, Bangladesh set a massive target of 514 runs against India. India topped the third day on 81 for the loss of three wickets and declared the second innings with 287 runs for the loss of four wickets.
Shubman Gill (119*) and Rishabh Pant (109) shone with centuries, leading India to a strong position in the second innings. Their batting excellence helped India quickly raise the score and improve their chances of a Himalayan victory over Bangladesh. KL Rahul remained unbeaten with Gill on 22 off 19 balls.
Rishabh Pant scored a century in the first test after returning to international cricket after a car accident two years ago. Shubman Gill, who overturned the disappointment of getting out for nothing in the first innings, filled the fans’ hearts with a century. The Pant-Gill partnership moved forward by attacking the spinners on the field, and it was believed that this would benefit the pacers.
Gill completed his half-century with two sixes before the ball, but it was the ball that overtook Gill to complete his first century. Rishabh Pant reached his sixth Test century in 124 balls. After scoring the century, the ball was out. Mehdi Hasan Miraz got the wicket. Pant’s innings included 13 fours and four sixes.
After the ball was out Gill reached 97 with consecutive boundaries against Shakib Al Hasan and completed his century in 161 balls. Gill remained unbeaten on 119 off 176 balls, hitting 10 fours and four sixes. Rahul remained unbeaten on 22 runs with four boundaries. Mehdi Hasan Miraz took two wickets for Bangladesh while Hasan Mehmood, who was brilliant with five wickets in the first innings, failed to take any wicket.
Gill and Pant scored 124 runs in 28 overs in the first session. Earlier, Najmul Hossain Shanro took an easy catch of Rishabh Pant off Shakib’s ball while standing on 72 runs. Taijul Islam also missed the opportunity given by Shubman Gill.
