Lynx Coach Reeve Reacts to Shooting, Team to Play Its Role

Minnesota lynx coach Cheryl Reeve addressed the difficulty of playing Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks ​after a shooting incident targeting Minnesota lawmakers. Gov. Tim Walz described the event as “targeted political violence.”

A man impersonating a police officer fatally shot Minnesota ‍lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband early ‌Saturday. Sen. ​John Hoffman and his wife⁣ were also shot multiple times and wounded. Police ‌are searching for the suspect. According to Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley, writings found in ‍a fake police car at one of the scenes​ mentioned multiple lawmakers‍ and officials.

Despite the tragedy,Reeve said the team ‍will fulfill its role and ‍play the scheduled⁤ game,which was also intended to celebrate Naismith memorial ⁤Hall of Famer Seimone Augustus’s ​induction in 2024.
