Cheshire East Offers Free Meals and Activities for Schoolchildren During Christmas Break

Cheshire East Council provides free hot meals and activities for schoolchildren during the Christmas break. The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme runs from December 20, 2024, to January 3, 2025. It targets children aged 5 to 16, particularly those eligible for free school meals.

Children can participate in various activities, including:

  • Physical activities
  • Arts and crafts
  • Interactive experiences

Each participant will receive a nutritious meal. The programme aims to ensure children:

  • Stay active
  • Learn and develop new skills
  • Socialize and have fun
  • Enjoy healthy meals
  • Work together and stay safe

Local schools, holiday clubs, and community groups will deliver the programme. Councillor Carol Bulman, chair of the children’s committee at Cheshire East Council, highlighted the importance of this initiative during the costly holiday season. She emphasizes that it helps families while providing children with essential meals and opportunities for engagement during the winter break.
