Chevalier’s Books Fundraiser: Support Prison Libraries with Your Donations

Chevalier’s Books, a bookstore located in Los Angeles, partners with prison libraries to provide books for incarcerated individuals. Nat Eastman, the store’s Assistant Manager, discussed this initiative in the Los Angeles Daily News. To support this effort, Chevalier’s has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for book donations.

The store emphasizes the importance of literature for those in prison, stating that “prisons do not disappear social problems, they disappear human beings.” They aim to use the fundraiser to provide books to jails, prisons, and detention centers. All proceeds from the campaign will go towards purchasing books for these facilities.

The bookstore encourages contributions of any amount and welcomes book recommendations from supporters. They have also received support from local publications, enhancing the visibility of their cause.
