Chiang Rai Under Water: Satellite Images Reveal Extent of Flooding in 3 Districts, 13,101 Rai Affected
Flood Situation in Chiang Rai Province: GISTDA Releases Satellite Images
The Agency for the development of geoinformatics and space technologies (GISTDA), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, is closely monitoring the flood situation in Chiang Rai province using RADARSAT-2 satellite images.
As of September 10, 2024, at 18:15, the satellite images revealed flooding in three districts: Mae Sai (6,182 rai), Chiang Saen (3,694 rai), and Mae Chan (3,225 rai). The total flooded area is approximately 13,101 rai. The water from these areas will be drained into the Mekong River.
GISTDA has provided the satellite image data to the responsible agencies to support their mission management, planning, and monitoring efforts. The agency continues to analyze and monitor the situation in areas that may be affected by flooding.
