Chiba’s Culinary Stars Shine: Marumi Kitchen and Syun Cooking Take Top Honors in Prestigious Recipe Book Awards
11th Cooking Recipe Book Awards 2024: Winners Announced
The 11th Cooking Recipe Book Awards 2024 ceremony took place in Tokyo, where booksellers from across Japan gathered to choose the most desirable recipe books to sell. The grand prize in the cooking category was awarded to “1% Motivational Meal Prep That Can Also Be Used for Bento Boxes” by Marumi Kitchen (KADOKAWA), while the grand prize in the sweets category went to “Conventional Snack Ideas” by syun cooking (Yamato Shobo).
“1% Motivational Meals to Prepare in Advance for Lunch Boxes” is the second book in the “1% Motivational Meals” series, which won the Cooking Recipe Book Grand Prize. This collection of highly requested recipes for meals to prepare in advance contains 500 dishes that can be prepared for three meals at a time, refrigerated for three days, and can also be frozen. Marumi Kitchen has won the Cooking Category Grand Prize for two consecutive years.
“Unconventional Snack Ideas” contains 100 recipes for super popular snack ideas, introduced by cooking method, such as “chilled,” “in the microwave,” “in a frying pan,” “in the toaster,” and “in the oven.” These recipes showcase how to finish snacks using everyday items with surprising techniques.
The event aims to establish a standard for recipe books, highlighting their appeal and spreading awareness of their value. This year, the 11th time the event has been held, there were 112 entries from 45 companies. At the awards ceremony, Hiroyuki Amano of the comedy duo Kyaeen appeared as the MC and offered words of congratulations to the winners.
