Swedish Coach Makes History as First From His Nation to Lead NHL Team
Chicago, IL – The Chicago Blackhawks have made history, appointing 49-year-old Peter Laviolette as their new head coach. this move marks a notable milestone as Laviolette becomes the first Swedish-born head coach in NHL history. he is only the third European coach to lead a team in the league, following in the footsteps of Finland’s Alpo Suhonen and Czech Republic’s Ivan Hlinka, who both coached in the 2000-2001 season.
