when Americans choose where to dine,customer satisfaction is a key consideration. The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI) Restaurant adn Food Delivery Study 2025 offers insights into brand performance in this area.
The study found that customer satisfaction with speedy-service restaurants remained steady at 79 out of 100.Among fast-food chains,Chick-fil-A again secured the top spot with a score of 83,leading the chicken-focused category.
In the full-service restaurant sector, the average customer satisfaction score was 82, a 2% decrease from the previous year, the ASCI reported. The decline was attributed to customers perceiving less value and expressing frustration with carry-out and delivery experiences,though food and service benchmarks remained high.
Texas Roadhouse maintained its lead in customer satisfaction for sit-down restaurants with a score of 84, despite a 1% drop. Last year, it tied for first place with LongHorn Steakhouse.

LongHorn Steakhouse slipped to second place with a score of 83, while Olive Garden, owned by Darden Restaurants, scored 81. Applebee’s and cracker Barrel both received a customer satisfaction score of 80, according to the ASCI study.
forrest Morgeson, ASCI Director of Research Emeritus, said restaurants “can’t simply rely on their traditional playbooks anymore.” He added, “The brands that succeed will be the ones that adapt quickly to shifting tastes without compromising consistency or experience.”
The ASCI study also examined food delivery services, revealing that smaller services achieved higher customer satisfaction compared to major companies like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and grubhub.
Smaller services scored 77,surpassing Uber Eats by two points and DoorDash and GrubHub by five points.

The ASCI report noted, “While prices remain the lowest-scoring part of the food delivery experience, scores have improved somewhat with fairness of food prices and fairness of taxes and service fees both up 3% to 71.” Customer satisfaction with food delivery mobile apps and websites also showed gains.
U.S. households spend an average of $269 per month on eating out, according to WalletHub.
Some restaurant chains have faced challenges recently as consumers reduce their spending on dining out due to economic uncertainty.
