Chiefs Clinch Playoff Berth: Marquise Brown’s Recovery, DeAndre Hopkins Impact
The Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) became the first team to secure a playoff berth with their 19-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday. Despite their success this season, the Chiefs rank 10th in scoring offense, averaging 24.1 points per game, and 15th in total offense, with 341.6 yards per game. Adding Marquise Brown could increase their big-play potential, helping to address their offensive challenges.
Brown, a former first-round pick by the Ravens and last year’s player for the Cardinals, suffered a shoulder injury during the Chiefs’ preseason game. Initially, the plan was to rehab the injury, but after his recovery did not go as expected, he underwent surgery in September.
The Chiefs faced another setback with Rashee Rice’s major knee injury in early October. However, the midseason trade for DeAndre Hopkins has helped the team. Hopkins has contributed 26 catches for 325 yards and three touchdowns since joining Kansas City.
Running back Isiah Pacheco returned to action on Friday, adding depth to the offense. Brown’s imminent return would further strengthen the team.
After his surgery, Brown expressed disappointment and frustration but remained hopeful about his future. He believes that this situation will pass and that he has a positive path ahead. Thanks to his rehab efforts, Brown is set to show that his first season with the Chiefs is just beginning.
