LANCIANO, Italy – Starting May 5, 2025, residents within teh ASL⁣ Lanciano Vasto chieti region of Abruzzo, Italy, will have greater control over their ‍in-home care services. A new organizational system will allow families too directly select their home care provider, according to the regional health authority.

Integrated Home Care Service (ADI)

The Integrated Home Care Service (ADI) is ⁣a free program providing in-home ⁢health and social care interventions. It is designed for individuals who, due to illness or post-hospitalization recovery, are unable to travel to a clinic independently.

Choice of Provider

Under‍ the new⁣ model developed by the Abruzzo Region, ⁣towns and citizens can choose from a list of 13 accredited suppliers. These suppliers have ⁣been vetted by the ASL based on quality and reliability criteria.

This choice is available to those with a new individual Assistance Plan (PAI), defined by‌ the ASL’s multidisciplinary team. if a selected provider dose not meet‌ the⁢ patient’s needs, a ‌change can be requested.

How the New System Works

  • The family doctor or pediatrician remains the ‍primary⁤ clinical contact.
  • Requests for ⁢ADI services⁤ are submitted to the Single access Point (PUA) of the local health district.
  • Once the individual care plan is ⁢created and approved, the ‌operator can ⁤be chosen:
    ‌

    • Online, through the Smartlean platform at Ceredomiciliari.asl2Abruzzo.it.
    • or by completing ⁣a⁢ paper form at the district office.
  • If a client does not make a selection⁢ within the allotted time (24 hours, or 6 hours in cases⁣ of protected discharge), the system will automatically assign an operator. This assignment mechanism aims⁢ to provide all operators with ⁢the ‍opportunity to provide welfare activities.
  • patients in⁤ the ADI program can‍ revoke their choice ⁢and select a ⁤different operator if thay are dissatisfied with the quality of services received.

Transition to the New System

The new system applies only to welfare plans activated after ⁣the implementation date. Existing plans will continue with the⁣ current operator until their expiration. Upon renewal, clients will be required to select an operator under the new system.

ASL’s Perspective

Mauro Palmieri, general manager of the ASL, stated, “With this new model, we truly want to put the citizen at the center.⁣ The possibility of choice empowers everyone and improves the quality ‍of assistance, which remains guaranteed‍ by the ASL.”

Further Facts

Additional information, including access procedures, a list of operators, forms, and frequently asked questions,⁢ is available on the ASL website.
