Updated June 07, 2025
An international law enforcement initiative has led to the arrest of 20 individuals across multiple countries. The suspects are accused of producing and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The investigation began in late 2024 when the Spanish National Police discovered instant messaging groups dedicated to sharing child sexual exploitation images. Identifying 88 suspects across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, spanish authorities alerted INTERPOL and Europol.
INTERPOL reported that Spanish investigators presented Operation Vibora at a Latin America victim Identification Task Force meeting in Chile in December 2024. This allowed officers from across Latin America to share information, provide leads, and launch coordinated actions.
Spanish authorities arrested seven suspects in Barcelona, Valladolid, Sevilla, Murcia, and jaén. The arrests included a teacher accused of sharing CSAM online and a healthcare worker accused of paying minors from Eastern Europe for CSAM content. Authorities also seized computers, mobile phones, and other devices.
Ten additional suspects were arrested in Latin America with INTERPOL’s assistance, including three in El Salvador and a teacher in Panama. Further arrests occurred in Europe and the United States.
What’s next
