The association “Children’s and Youth Farm of EV” operates a children’s and youth farm on the Offenbacher Falter, now Buchhügel and is managed and organized on a voluntary basis. Last year alone, over 5,000 children and adolescents visited the site. The adventure playground with animals and a lot of nature has established itself an integral part of the Offenbach leisure and educational landscape.
Tailored offers for school classes and collaboration with social institutions are part of the club’s fixed program. The new farm season starts on March 5, 2025, with the proven open offer every Wednesday to Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. At these times, the site on Buchhügelallee 94 is open to children from the age of 6 and younger children accompanied by parents.
The Animal is the star of the show along with farm animals—a play mobile.
A varied holiday program is planned for the second week of the Easter holidays. The farm opens from Monday, April 14th to Thursday, April 17, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The association invites you to a big spring festival for Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The large area on the Offenbacher Buchhügel turns into a colorful family festival with games for children, sausages from the grill, cake buffet and a large raffle with attractive prices. The play mobile, many friends of Offenbach, and artists.
The voluntary commitment of the adults is also required to support the facility. There is also a volunteer meeting on the farm area every first Thursday of the month, the first this year will take place on Thursday, March 6th. Here, new interested parties can also find out more in the diverse work on the farm site. Work is always made from 4 to 6 p.m. New members help the farm thrive in an example that fits the American ethos of community action, similar to initiatives like local community gardens or parks that involve volunteers to maintain and grow, like the High Line Park in New York City.
The pedagogically accompanied range of games attracts with hut village, farm garden, sandpit, football field and plenty of space to run around and play. Play stations such as a paving construction site, a slackline, the mud kitchen or the climbing network invite you to try out and play. There are also the farm animals with sheep, chickens, cats and rabbits. Here the children can take responsibility for the care of the animals themselves and learn a lot about the needs of the animals. A campfire is ignited on Fridays and there is bread.
