Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has secured top national and global rankings for pediatric care, according to evaluations released in September 2026 by U.S. News & World Report and Newsweek. The Southern California medical center earned a spot in the top 10 children’s hospitals nationwide for the 2026–27 rankings and claimed the number five spot globally in pediatric care from Newsweek.
The hospital earned a place on the U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll for the 18th year, maintaining that distinction since the publication first established the list. Additionally, according to U.S. News & World Report, the facility is ranked as the number one children’s hospital in California.
National Specialty Rankings and Behavioral Health Recognition
In the specialty evaluations published for the 2026–27 period, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles placed within the top 10 across seven distinct care areas. Those standings include cancer at number four, gastroenterology and GI surgery at number four, orthopedics at number seven, urology at number seven, diabetes and endocrinology at number eight, neonatology at number nine, and neurology and neurosurgery at number 10, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Additional national rankings from the publication placed the facility at number 12 in pulmonology and lung surgery, number 16 in nephrology, and number 20 in cardiology and heart surgery. Furthermore, the hospital’s Behavioral Health Institute secured a position among the top 50 hospitals in the pediatric and adolescent behavioral health category.
Global Standing and Leadership Perspective
On the international stage, Newsweek ranked Children’s Hospital Los Angeles at number five in pediatrics within its world’s best specialized hospitals list for 2027. That global ranking, produced in partnership with data firm Statista Inc., evaluates medical institutions across 13 fields based on reputation, accreditation, and the implementation of patient-reported outcome measures.
