Spanish farmers and ranchers will take to the streets of Spain again and bring out the tractors from Monday to Friday in protest of the cuts to the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the EU-Mercosur trade agreement, despite the recent suspension of this pact by the European Parliament, considering that both factors could worsen the critical situation facing the countryside in Spain.
These concentrations are being promoted in a united action by the Association of Young Farmers (Asaja), the Coordinating Organization of Farmers and Ranchers (COAG) and the Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers (UPA), who are promoting these tractor parades throughout the national territory and are maintained despite the recent decision of the European Parliament to suspend the EU-Mercosur agreement and send it to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) for review.
These concentrations of farmers and ranchers will take place throughout the week, but will have their most prominent day on the 29th, which will be the ‘super Thursday’, a day that will bring together the majority of concentrations, where more than 25 provinces with tractor parades and protests have already been confirmed.
Thus, valencia, Cádiz, Málaga, Zamora, Valladolid, Bilbao, Vitoria, Logroño, Murcia, Toledo, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas de gran Canaria or Mallorca, among others, have already confirmed tractor parades, while in Madrid there will also be mobilizations and a ‘protest stew’ is expected in the middle of Puerta del Sol.
“we want to concentrate the largest number of mobilizations on January 29 as a response to the issues that concern us, such as the reduction of the budget for the next CAP, trade agreements with other countries and the excess of bureaucracy in the countryside,” recently assured the Secretary General of UPA, Cristobal Cano, in a press conference with representatives of Asaja and COAG.
A ‘hot’ week throughout the territory due to the demonstrations of farmers and ranchers with which they seek to convey to the administrations the urgency of listening to the real problems of the agricultural sector and adopting “brave and wise” decisions that guarantee economic and social viability.

farmers and ranchers are preparing a new wave of protests to demonstrate their discontent with the policies of the European Union (EU) regarding the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the trade agreement with Mercosur. The demonstrations, scheduled for January 26 to 30, aim to pressure the authorities to reconsider the proposed cuts to agricultural subsidies and the potential impact of Mercosur on European agricultural production.
The agricultural sector is concerned about the reduction in direct payments to farmers, which they fear will jeopardize the viability of many farms, especially smaller ones. They also warn about the risks of increased competition from agricultural products from Mercosur countries, which could lead to a drop in prices and further economic hardship for European farmers.
The protests are expected to involve mobilizations in various cities across Spain, with tractors and other agricultural machinery taking to the streets. The organizers hope to raise public awareness about the challenges facing the agricultural sector and to urge policymakers to take their concerns seriously.
The agricultural unions are demanding a fair CAP that guarantees adequate income for farmers and protects European agricultural production. They also call for a renegotiation of the Mercosur agreement to ensure that it does not harm european farmers.
This new wave of protests comes after months of growing tension between the agricultural sector and the EU authorities. Farmers feel that their concerns are not being adequately addressed and that the policies being implemented are detrimental to their livelihoods.
