Beijing – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has voiced strong opposition to Israeli attacks targeting Iran, emphasizing the need to respect Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. Wang Yi conveyed China’s stance during a phone call Saturday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqji, following reported Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
according to China News Agency, Wang Yi assured Araqji of China’s support for Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty, defending its legitimate rights and interests, and ensuring the safety of its people. The discussion followed escalating tensions in the region after the reported strikes.
Wang Yi stated that the actions of the Israeli occupation forces “violated the danger of the principles of the United nations Charter and its purposes and the basic rules governing international relations.” He further warned that the attack on Iranian nuclear facilities sets “a perilous precedent that may cause catastrophic consequences.”
China’s foreign minister urged countries with influence over Israel to make serious efforts to restore peace.
