China Delivers Lifesaving Aid: 2 Million CFA Francs Worth of Medicines and Equipment Boost Koudougou Regional Hospital Center
Chinese Red Cross Donates Medical Supplies to Koudougou Regional Hospital Center
On Monday, September 23, 2024, the 6th medical mission sent to Burkina Faso by the Chinese Red Cross donated medicines, consumables, and equipment worth approximately 2,000,000 CFA francs to the Koudougou Regional Hospital Center (CHR). The mission team also provided free consultations to the local population.
Sino-Burkinabe Cooperation in Health Strengthened
The donation is part of the Sino-Burkinabe cooperation in the health sector, which aims to strengthen the capacity of local hospitals and provide quality healthcare services to the population. After the Tengandogo University Hospital Center (CHU) in Ouagadougou, the 6th medical mission focused on the Koudougou Regional Hospital Center (CHR), also known as Koudougou Friendship Hospital.
Medical Team Provides Free Consultations and Care
The Chinese medical team, consisting of a gastroenterologist, anesthesiologist, emergency intervention radiologist, cardiac surgeon, and traditional Chinese doctor, provided free medical care to the population of Koudougou. The team plans to perform heart surgery, selecting children and young people suffering from congenital heart defects to provide ultrasound-guided care, free of charge.
Strengthening the Reception Capacity of CHR
Before delivering the medical supplies, the two parties held a meeting to strengthen cooperation. The Director General of Koudougou CHR, Habibou Ouédraogo/Kaboré, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that it would strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide quality healthcare services to patients. The hospital, built in 1988, has a capacity of 247 beds and serves a population of over 1.8 million.
A Symbol of Sino-Burkinabe Friendship
The head of the mission, Chen Daohu, cardiologist surgeon, emphasized that the Koudougou Friendship Hospital is a symbol of the friendship between the Chinese and Burkinabe peoples. The Chinese medical team paid their respects to former team members who worked at the hospital and made the ultimate sacrifice, laying wreaths for their eternal rest.
The Chinese medical team will continue to conduct medical exchanges and provide diagnostic and treatment services with local doctors.
