India Bolsters Air Defense Against Pakistan,China

New Delhi – India is strengthening its air defense capabilities amid growing concerns over PakistanS acquisition of advanced weaponry,including the J-35A stealth fighter,and China’s increasing airpower. The move aims to safeguard critical infrastructure and maintain a strategic advantage in the region.
Pakistan’s existing arsenal includes Shaheen, abdali, and other ballistic missiles capable of reaching targets over 1,500 miles away. The impending delivery of the Chinese J-35A,a fifth-generation stealth fighter,poses a new challenge. Experts suggest Pakistan could deploy these aircraft to bases in Skardu, Karachi, or Gwadar, potentially threatening indian military installations in Jammu, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. The J-35A, coupled with Ra’ad-II cruise missiles, would give Pakistan standoff attack capabilities.
To counter these threats, India is deploying the Russian-made S-500 ‘Prometheus’ air defense system.as a successor to the S-400, the S-500 is designed to intercept advanced aerial threats, including hypersonic projectiles traveling at speeds up to mach 19. It can also neutralize stealth aircraft using low-frequency radar and even target satellites in low-earth orbit. The S-500’s capabilities include ballistic missile defense, anti-stealth detection, anti-satellite capability, multi-target engagement, and high mobility.
