China Open Upgrade Set to Begin with Fully Booked Sponsorship Quota
The 2024 China Open Qualifying Tournament is scheduled to start on September 23 and 24, featuring former US Open champion Andreescu and Italian star Fognini competing for a spot in the main event. This year’s China Open has undergone significant upgrades, including a new player channel and a smart navigation system accessible through the China Open mini app.
The National Tennis Center, the venue of the China Open, is abuzz with excitement as the tournament approaches. Large posters of top players, including Zheng Qinwen, Zhang Zhizhen, Wang Xinyu, Sinner, Alcaraz, and Sabalenka, adorn the exterior of the Diamond Stadium, hinting at the star-studded lineup. The China Open’s new mascot, “A Zhong,” has been transformed into various shapes, appearing throughout the park to enhance the tournament atmosphere.
A new design for the player tunnel at the Diamond Stadium has been unveiled, featuring photo light boxes and large LED screens showcasing the names and photos of past China Open champions, as well as images of 16 iconic Beijing landmarks. According to Gao Yuan, the person in charge of the China Open event broadcast, the design was inspired by Grand Slam tournaments. As players enter the venue, they will walk past the portraits of past champions alongside Beijing’s characteristic landmarks, which will be broadcast to audiences worldwide.
The China Open has secured significant investment this year, with a sponsorship model consisting of “1 Premier + 3 Diamonds + 8 Platinums” and 10 partners. Zhang Junhui, the tournament director, attributes the fully booked sponsorship quota to the China Open’s 20-year legacy, the growth of the domestic sports market and tennis, and the outstanding performance of Chinese tennis players. This year’s sponsors have also introduced innovative fan interaction and promotion strategies, which will contribute to the tournament’s success.
