Keane highlighted the depth of China’s penetration into american society, spanning cyber espionage, interference wiht the food supply, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and transportation systems.
Keane,a Fox News senior strategic analyst,described the threat as “comprehensive,” noting recent attempts by Chinese nationals to smuggle biological materials into the U.S. He suggested these actions could be exploratory, aimed at assessing vulnerabilities in U.S. agriculture and food sources, perhaps disrupting the American peopel’s will to support any conflict in the Pacific.
Recent incidents include the interception of two individuals in Detroit allegedly attempting to smuggle Fusarium graminearum, a crop-killing fungus, into the U.S. for study. this toxic fungus causes ”head blight,” a disease affecting wheat, barley, maize, and rice, resulting in billions of dollars in economic losses and posing a threat to human health, according to the Department of Justice. Separately, a chinese PhD student from wuhan was arrested for allegedly sending concealed biological material to the U.S. in 2024 and 2025.
