China’s Great Deception: How the Left Hand Steals and the Right Hand Shares the Loot

October 31, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Entertainment

[The Epoch Times, October 30, 2024](Comprehensive report by Epoch Times reporter Ning Haizhong) As the economy continues to decline, the Chinese Communist Party authorities claim to support the private economy, but the industry has doubts. Recently, part of the book “Common Bottom Line” written by liberal writer Qin Hui was circulated in the form of a video on the Internet in mainland China. There are remarks insinuating that the CCP dignitaries first robbed in the name of the “left” and then divided the spoils in the name of the “right”, triggering Hot discussion.

Some chapters of the book “Common Bottom Line” written by Qin Hui, a retired professor at China’s Tsinghua University and a liberal writer, have recently been widely circulated on mainland social media in the form of online videos. There are different bloggers turning the pages of the book in the video to introduce the content of the book:

With unchecked power, they sometimes “left” and sometimes “right”, first robbing in the name of “left”, and then dividing the spoils in the name of “right”. In the name of “socialism”, the private interests of the common people are transformed into “public”, and in the name of “market economy”, the private interests of the powerful are transformed. The “state-owned sector” has become the “pump of primitive accumulation” in the “left-right cycle”, using unchecked power as a powerful motor to pump the assets of the common people into the national treasury, and at the same time pump the contents of the national treasury into the private pockets of the powerful… ⋯

A blogger said: “I am too brave to write this book, “Common Bottom Line”. Because the content of this book is too large, its publication has been full of twists and turns. The “Preface” says that the book was actually compiled in 2002, but But it was abandoned again due to various reasons. It was not published until ten years ago in 2013, and it is still published without cuts, which is very rare. “

Some mainland bloggers also said in the video: “I really admire the author for having the courage to write. I sweated after reading it.”

Some of the videos have been removed from mainland China’s Internet, but some remain. There are also some videos that introduce other content in the book, such as mentioning the real problem in China: in those places that both the left and right in the West consider to be the private sphere, “public power” must be restricted or even regulated; It is a place in the public sphere, including “public power” itself, which is dominated by personal will and the interests of small groups.

“Common Bottom Line” was published by Jiangsu Literature and Art Publishing House in March 2013. The author is Qin Hui. In 2013, the book was selected into Sina’s annual list of China’s best books on life. The book currently has entries in Encyclopedia and Douban.

Related videos sparked heated discussions among netizens on the overseas X platform:

“Communism and socialism are anti-human social systems in themselves. They turn the total social property into the ‘private ownership’ of a few people in the name of ‘public ownership’, just like state-owned enterprises and central enterprises. Otherwise, their huge savings and veteran cadres’ natural resources will be lost.” Where do the medical expenses come from?”

“The writing is so real. The sickle is still the same, cutting leeks back and forth.”

“The original intention of the Communist Party is to attack local tyrants and distribute their wealth. Mao also said that political power comes from the barrel of a gun, which is violent robbery!”

“Some things are unspeakable, but they still happen.”

“Qin Hui is one of the few scholars with integrity.”

“China is a privileged country. Like North Korea, there is no so-called socialism.”

“It feels like the Turkish Communist Party has lost control of the speech inside the wall.”

“The Communist Party system is just a needle stuck in the bodies of ordinary people.”

“The core idea of communism: smash, smash and loot.”

“Everyone should treat themselves as poor and give their money to the party to spend, and that will equalize the situation.”

There has always been a dispute between the left and right lines within the Chinese Communist Party. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, through land reform, Three Antis and Five Antis movements, the Chinese people’s land and assets were taken away in the name of nationalization. The “Cultural Revolution” was the pinnacle of the left. The “reform and opening up” that followed was considered a right-wing manifestation, with the party-state elites collectively carving up “state-owned assets.” Since Xi Jinping came to power, he has been accused of turning left in an all-round way. The manifestations of his economic line turning left include “the state advances and the private sector retreats” and in recent years, “anti-monopoly”, investigation and punishment of the education and training industry, etc.

Under the left-turn route, the economy declined and a large number of private enterprises closed down. Due to the increasing pressure on local finances, local governments have begun to conduct corporate tax backchecks this year. Several Chinese listed companies revealed that they have been under tax backchecks for 30 years. Entrepreneurs have been arbitrarily detained by officials frequently. Private entrepreneurs are frightened and must either lie down or go abroad.

According to “21st Century Business Herald”, if companies whose executives were “taken away” for investigation and then put back, as well as companies that have not yet been “put back” are included, according to Wind data, as of October 10, there have been as many as 100,000 listed companies during the year. More than thirty families. In the past three years, a total of 31 listed companies have had their executives “taken away”. Most of the executives of listed companies who were “taken away” were top leaders of private enterprises.

In order to restore the confidence of private enterprises, the Communist Party of China released a so-called signal to support the private economy and protect private enterprises at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in July this year, and announced the “Private Economy Promotion Law (Draft for Comments)” on October 10 )”, claiming to strengthen the protection of the rights and interests of private enterprises and support their participation in major technological research tasks, but requires private enterprises to support the CCP.

Professor Xie Tian from the Aiken School of Business at the University of South Carolina told The Epoch Times earlier that the CCP has never changed. Of course they know that private enterprises have made a great contribution to the Chinese economy, but they do not believe in private enterprises and the CCP will never give up. The dominant position of state-owned enterprises.

The CCP’s Marxist surplus value theory calls capitalists exploiters and advocates the elimination of private ownership.

Videos of speeches given by Chinese economist Xiang Songzuo a few years ago have recently been circulated on the Internet again. He said that the common mentality of private entrepreneurs now is: “Needing us is a helpless choice, and eliminating us is a lofty ideal.”
