China Selects New Team of Taikonauts for Future Moon Landing Mission
The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) has announced the selection of the fourth team of taikonauts, who will embark on a historic mission to land on the moon in the future.
The rigorous selection process, completed in May, resulted in the selection of 10 taikonauts from the reserves, comprising eight space pilots and two payload specialists. These individuals commenced their comprehensive training program in August, according to CMSA spokesman Lin Xiqiang.
The training program encompasses over 200 courses, spanning eight primary categories. The taikonauts are being trained not only for missions involving the space station but also for future manned landing missions. The training curriculum includes essential skills for living and working in microgravity, maintaining spacecraft health, and expertise for extravehicular activities, equipment maintenance, and space science experiments.
Lin Xiqiang emphasized the significance of this training, highlighting the agency’s commitment to preparing the taikonauts for the challenges of space exploration.
