Chinese AI Helps Iran Target US Forces With Precision

Military analysts and intelligence assessments indicate that artificial intelligence tools provided by a Chinese company are enabling Iran to target United States and allied forces with extreme precision during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has assessed that an AI tool developed by the Chinese firm MizarVision poses a direct threat to U.S. Forces. The technology utilizes satellite imagery enhanced by AI to identify and tag military bases and operational assets across expansive geographic areas.

Precision Targeting Capabilities

According to military analysts, the AI-enhanced satellite intelligence allows Iran to target locations with an accuracy of within a third of a square metre. This level of precision significantly increases the vulnerability of military assets that remain stationary for 24 hours, as they can be integrated into an Iranian targeting cycle.

Retired Australian Defence Force Major General Gus McLachlan stated that this capability allows for the targeting of sites as small as 0.3 square metres. He noted that targets, including a U.S. E-3 Sentry aircraft, have already been hit with incredible precision.

Impact on Allied Forces

The development is viewed as a dangerous escalation because it empowers Iranian forces to select specific targets with high confidence. Major General McLachlan indicated that the Australian government would be concerned, as the capability creates a plausible risk that Australian personnel could be killed.

Approximately 100 Australian soldiers are currently stationed in the Middle East. This includes personnel at facilities in the United Arab Emirates that were damaged during an Iranian attack on March 18, 2026.

Corporate and Government Responses

MizarVision has published images detailing the deployment of U.S. Air defence systems in the Middle East both before and after the start of the war. The company has not responded to requests for comment regarding these activities.

Reports indicate that Chinese firms are leveraging a combination of AI and open-source data to track U.S. Military movements. While some U.S. Officials and intelligence experts are divided on the nature of the involvement, one U.S. Analyst has stated that the Chinese government should intervene to stop these activities.
