Chinese Artist Kong Ning Celebrates World Earth Day in Beijing with Peace-Themed Wearable Art Installation Highlighting Environmental Concerns

Chinese artist Kong Ning presented a new installation titled “Journey through peace” in Beijing on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, to mark World Earth Day. The wearable art piece featured a costume made of balloon dinosaurs, a headset of greenery, and a green sphere, drawing attention from passers-by in a central district while conveying a message about environmental restoration and the planet’s need to recover.

Kong Ning explained that the outfit invites the Earth to dream, offering a space to rest and recover, and serves as a way to restore energy needed to sustain human life. She emphasized that the installation combines playfulness with a quiet message about the planet, using her body as a platform to highlight environmental concerns and spark public reflection.

The artist has staged wearable works every Earth Day for more than a decade, consistently using her art to draw public attention to environmental issues. Her approach involves creating symbolic costumes from everyday or recycled materials to convey urgent ecological messages through performance art.
