JAKARTA⁣ (April 20, 2025) – Overall car sales in Indonesia experienced⁣ a slight downturn in March, even as⁣ several Chinese automotive brands saw significant increases, according ⁤to data released ⁢by the indonesian Automotive Industry Association ⁣(Gaikindo).

Gaikindo reported ⁣that wholesale car sales (distribution from factories⁢ to dealers) ⁢reached‍ 70,892 units in March, a decrease from the 72,336 units sold the previous month. Though, retail sales saw a temporary increase of⁣ 9.6%, climbing from ⁤69,872 units to 76,582 ⁢units.

Q1 2025 Sales Show Overall Decline

Honda Completes Top Three

Honda rounds out the top three best-selling brands in ‍Indonesia. Wholesale sales reached 6,303 units,‍ a 28% decrease from the previous month. However,⁢ retail sales saw an increase to 8,165 units in March, a 5.3% rise.

Chinese Brands Experiance Significant Growth

Several Chinese brands⁢ experienced notable growth ‍in⁤ March. BYD, an⁢ electric car brand, saw a significant increase of 129.1%. Wholesale ⁣sales for BYD reached 3,205 units, compared ⁣to 1,399 units the previous month. retail sales ⁤reached 2,870 units,⁤ up 1,382 units from February.

Aion also experienced a surge, with sales increasing by 503.1% ⁢compared⁣ to February. aion distributed 959 units in March, compared to only 159 units the previous month.

Other Chinese brands showing gains include Chery, DFSK, Geely, Neta, Baic and ⁢Haval.
