Top seeds in the men’s and women’s singles, Chinese players Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, defeated their respective opponents to advance.

Wang Chuqin’s opponent in the quarter-finals was South Korean player Zhao Dacheng, who had performed well in the previous two rounds to eliminate higher-ranked opponents. In the match, Zhao Dacheng relied on high-quality forehand returns to start a tug of war with Wang Chuqin.
