Chinese Snowboarders Dominate Men’s Big Air World Cup Qualifications in Beijing
Chinese snowboarders Yang Wenlong and Su Yiming secured the top two spots in the men’s qualification heat 1 at the FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup in Beijing on Saturday. Yang, 25, scored 175.25 points, placing first. Su, the Beijing Winter Olympic champion, scored 170.75 points, earning second place.
Su said, “I performed the tricks well as planned, but not perfectly in the last run. I will try my best in the final with higher difficulty.”
In another qualification heat, Japan’s Ryoma Kimata finished first with 170.25 points, securing his place in the final.
In the women’s snowboard big air, Japan’s Kokomo Murase achieved the highest score of 178.50 points, advancing to the final. Austria’s Anna Gasser followed her with a strong performance.
The finals for both men’s and women’s snowboard and freeski big air events will take place at the Big Air Shougang on Sunday.
