Choi Extends lead at Maybank Championship, Maguire Faces Uphill Battle
Kuala Lumpur – South Korea’s Hye-Jin Choi built a commanding four-stroke lead through Saturday at the Maybank Championship, positioning herself for a potential victory. The 26-year-old Choi, who finished as runner-up at the 2017 US women’s Open as a teenager, is 19-under par for the tournament.
Maguire Struggles in Round Three
Leona Maguire, the Solheim Cup star, experienced a setback in her title hopes with a two-over par 74 on Saturday. This followed a more promising round of 69 on Friday.Maguire’s round included a single birdie on the par-5 10th, offset by three dropped shots at the 6th, 12th, and 14th holes.
As of Saturday,Maguire is currently tied for 52nd at two-under par,17 strokes behind the leader. Her last LPGA Tour victory came in June 2023.
Chasing the Leader
China’s yan Liu is mounting a challenge, carding a stellar 65 to reach 15-under par. Australia’s Hannah Green sits one stroke further back at 14-under par.
