Choking on Neighbors’ Flames: Western Venezuela Engulfed by Brazilian and Colombian Forest Fire Smoke
Wildfires in South America Affect Venezuela’s Western Region
The devastating consequences of the wildfires in South America have reached Venezuela, specifically affecting the western part of the country. According to meteorologist Luis Vargas, smoke has been detected in the states of Apure, Barinas, Portuguesa, and Cojedes.
Vargas explained on his social media account that the southwest winds have carried the fog produced by burning vegetation in neighboring countries, including Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, to Venezuela.
The meteorologist predicted that the situation will persist for at least the next 24-36 hours before gradually decreasing in the country.
